Grinding takes the stump down below grade, leaving the major roots in place underground: faster, lower-cost, and enough for most yards. Full removal digs out the stump and the major root ball entirely, which is what’s needed if you’re planning to plant something new in that exact spot or build over it. We’ll walk the yard with you and tell you honestly which approach your project actually needs.
Grinding typically goes 6 to 12 inches below grade, deep enough that you can plant grass, lay sod, or install new landscaping directly over the spot without the stump interfering. For larger stumps or ones close to a driveway or foundation, we grind deeper on request.
Ground wood chips can be hauled away completely, or left on-site to use as mulch around your landscaping, whichever you’d rather have.
